If someone sent you a gift

Your details were given to us by the sender, or by you when you accepted the gift. We use them only to deliver your gift, keep you updated, help with any problem, and meet our legal obligations.

We don’t add you to our marketing lists unless you create a Sugary account or sign up yourself. If you’d rather we didn’t keep your details after delivery, contact us and we’ll delete anything we’re not required to keep by law.

Senders: please share a recipient’s details only when you have good reason to think they’d be happy to receive a gift from you.

5

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent out your personal information. We share it only with:

Stores
The Store fulfilling your order receives the details needed to prepare and deliver it.
Delivery partners
To complete the delivery and send updates.
Payment providers
To process payments and help prevent fraud.
Service providers
Companies that provide services such as hosting, communications, analytics and customer support. They act only on our instructions.
Advertising and analytics partners
With your consent where required, to help us measure and improve our marketing.

Legal and safety
Authorities, courts and professional advisers when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or Sugary.
Business changes
A buyer or successor if all or part of Sugary is sold, merged or reorganised. Your information stays protected by this policy.

Some US state laws treat sharing data for targeted advertising as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out at any time by turning off advertising cookies or by contacting us.

6

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep Sugary working, remember your preferences, understand how Sugary is used and measure our marketing.

Essential cookies are always on, because Sugary can’t work without them. Analytics and advertising cookies are optional. Where the law requires consent, they run only after you agree, and you can change your choice at any time. Our Cookie Policy explains more.

7

International transfers

Sugary operates internationally, so your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. Where the law requires, we use recognised safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect it.

8

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, including to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements and to resolve disputes. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it anonymous.

9

Keeping it secure

We use technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit and access controls. Card details are handled by our payment providers, not stored by us.

No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us straight away if you think your account has been compromised. If a data breach puts your rights at risk, we’ll inform you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

10

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, including the UK, the European Union, the UAE and US states such as California, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy
  • correct information that’s wrong or incomplete
  • have your information deleted, or close your account
  • receive your information in a portable format
  • object to or restrict how we use it, including for direct marketing
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what we did before
  • opt out of targeted advertising, or of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as US state laws define them

To use any of these rights, contact us. We may need to confirm your identity first. We’ll reply within 30 days and won’t treat you differently for using your rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

You can unsubscribe from marketing messages using the link or instructions in each message, change your cookie choices at any time, and edit or delete your account from your profile.

Children

Sugary is for adults aged 18 and over, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children to create accounts. A child may receive a gift sent by an adult, and in that case we use their details only to deliver it. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

12

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We’ll post the new version here with a new date, and tell you about important changes before they take effect.
